Jebsen Travel Management traces its history back to its former parent company Jebsen & Co., Ltd. ("JCL"). The firm was founded in Hong Kong in 1895, it survived two world wars and thrived through the most turbulent times in the modern history of Asia. Jebsen first started to develop the airline business in 1954 as the General Sales Agent ("GSA") of Lufthansa German Airlines for passenger and cargo. As confidence in the stability of Hong Kong and China region increased, Lufthansa took the decision to establish its own office in 1979.

The GSA business continues to flourish and subsidiary companies were incorporated from 1978 as the GSA arm of JCL Airways Division, representing various on-line and off-line carriers.

The travel business grew at the same pace. In 1980, a separate division was set up and marketed under the brand name Jebsen Travel, which was designated to play an active role in the travel trade. With the steady growth through the years, Jebsen Travel has become one of the top ten agencies in Hong Kong with an annual sales turnover over US$60 million.

Hong Kong is well recognised as the window to China. Armed with this foresight in 1995, we established an 80% owned joint-venture company in Shanghai - Shanghai Jebsen Air Service Co., Ltd. ("SJASC") with Beijing Foreign Enterprise Air Service Corp. This joint venture was the first of its kind in Shanghai and formed a crucial foundation in establishing seamless corporate travel management services across Greater China. Jebsen holds majority stake with full management rights, and our joint venture partner plays a consultancy role in our strategic planning.

SJASC is a licensed Passenger Sales Agent for handling international and domestic air services. Being an IATA accredited agency since 1996, SJASC was recognised for its outstanding performance as Lufthansa German Airlines' best sales agent in China from 1999.

In early 2003, SJASC received the necessary government approvals and set up branch offices in Beijing and Guangzhou. Together with the full financial and management support from the Head Office in Hong Kong, we are able to provide our customers with full coverage of regional network services in the key international ports of China. Our expansion strategy is continuing.

Following a restructuring of the Jebsen Group in early 2003, a new holding company MF Jebsen International Ltd was formed. Among other businesses, all travel and GSA related businesses of Jebsen Travel and Jebsen Air Services Ltd were transferred to the MF Jebsen Group headed by its Executive Chairman, Mr. Markus F. Jebsen.

In July 2004, the Corporate Travel Department has been renamed to Jebsen Travel Management Ltd. (JTML) and entered into a partnership with an International Travel Alliance - TQ3 Travel Solutions. TQ3 Travel Solutions, which merged with Navigant in the USA in 2004, was one of the largest Global Travel Alliances in the world.

In Jan 2006, the acquisitions of TQ3 Travel Solutions Management Holding GmbH and The Travel Company by BCD Holdings, and integration with BCD Holding's own corporate travel company WorldTravel BTI - BCD Travel was formed. It is one global travel logistics company with one single management. BCD Travel is now the third largest global travel management company which operates in 96 countries on five continents, and post combined sales of US$12 billion and worldwide with a workforce in excess of 12,000 employees. In July 2006, Jebsen Travel Management Ltd. strategically joined as BCD Travel Hong Kong and guarantees to provide Global Travel Solutions to serve national and multi-national clients with a fresh, new approach to travel management.
